Dear Family and Friends,
I would like to share a little about Herb’s life and our fifty-five years together.
Herb was born in Germany. He lived through World War II as a teenager. He left Germany when he was 21 years old and started to explore the world. He traveled through Europe, Spain, Africa, Singapore and Vietnam. Through these experiences, he was a diver, boat captain, mechanic, pilot and a contractor for the military.
He came to Vietnam in 1968 and that’s when he met a young traditional Vietnamese lady. We married in 1969 and I became a wife of a strong-willed German man. I learned so much with our time together and all the many experiences we had in our 55 years together and it has made me the person I am today.
In 1975, Vietnam fell to communists. In my hometown of Saigon, Herb was able to evacuate my family through the help of the U.S. Military to Ramona, California.
To my Husband and my Love,
You have now passed on. I thank you for our 55 years together! We will meet again at a better place and begin our next chapter. Rest in peace, I love you and God Bless!
~Lany Niederheiser
