Albert “Al” Petani
August 1, 1944 – May 26, 2015

The life of Al Petani was quite remarkable. He was a very humble man that did not do what he did to be noticed but because he was a generous person.  Whenever he found out that one of his friends needed help with anything he would be the first to volunteer. He would give the shirt of his back for anyone because that was the type of person he was. One day when we went to the mall to go shopping he saw a woman in the parking lot with a flat tire and just went up to her and asked if she needed help. Of course within a matter of minutes that woman was on her way. She wanted to pay him and he said no because he was not looking to be paid he just wanted to help.

This is what he did was help people; we could always go to him for help with our math homework but only til about high school because even after that it became a little difficult for him to figure out. In the past few years he even helped mom with the horses because she couldn’t do as much. He helped us work on our cars because that was one of his passions. Anytime we broke down on the side of the road he would be the first to call. He made everything possible, as kids we did not know how it happened but it happened.

Every summer we always went on some sort of vacation, Christmas was always amazing, and birthdays were always taken care of. The one thing that we did know was where our electronic devices came from because he worked for Sony. We even had the Betamax and a corded remote television. He always provided for us no matter what. He took pride in his family and was proud of us in whatever we did. He was not much for material things but what we had was quality.

Al enjoyed fishing, camping, and classic cars. Even though we did not catch many fish when we went out it was the time that we spent together. Also going to car shows, cruise nights, and the Early Ford V-8 Club outings was something we did together as a family. He was also a very proud Vietnam Veteran of the United States Air Force. He loved his country and would stand behind it in good times and bad. He wasn’t much for sports but because we liked it he joined in again as a family. These are just a few facts about Al Petani but there are so many more. He was a great husband, father, and grandfather and will forever be in our hearts.

The Funeral Mass will be at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Ramona on Wednesday, June 3rd at 12 noon.  The Rosary will be recited one half hour prior to Mass.  He will be laid to rest with Military Honors at Nuevo Memory Gardens in Ramona immediately following the service.
