Welcome to the memorial page for

Joan "Jody" Marie (Qualls) Jensen

October 13, 1938 ~ June 22, 2017 (age 78) 78 Years Old

Joan “Jody” Marie Qualls was born in Bakersfield to Eugene Qualls of Comanche OK and Annie Goldie Brennan of Manitou OK.  Mom picked cotton as a child and helped her mother make cloths.  As a teen she sang on the radio and at Knott's Berry Farm.  She was a cheerleader and very athletic and married her bad boy husband “Ron” who crashed her teen birthday party.  She was a bigger than life person reaching out and touching people all along her journey.  She loved to sing, play guitar, host parties and build things.  And boy did she build, if she had a redo she likely would have been a contractor, it was in her blood.

She is survived by her children; son Ron Jensen, wife Sofia, adult children Sonia and Ryan. Daughter Susan Michalek, husband Joe and son Steven.  Son Mike, wife Barbara, adult children Kevin, wife Lauren, grandchild Emma.  Son Brad Jensen, wife Kim, grandchildren Parker, Riley and Addyson and Son Nathan serving overseas in the Armed Forces.

A few words of tribute; Mom “Jody” was a mother to more than just those she gave birth to.  She gave shelter, food and clothing to many who came to her door.  Knocks would come at her door in the middle of the night and she would open the door, comfort, house, nourish and share a little of her enormous love with them.  Animals were also treated with special love and respect, in fact her dogs accompanied her to the store, and lunch most anywhere she could get away with it.  We miss her dearly but look forward to a reunion and are comforted that she is no longer suffering;  Mom “Jody” was so loved and had a giant impact in many people’s lives.  She had a heart for the less fortunate and constantly opened her home and her heart to help others.  She was an amazing, remarkable, kind, generous, wonderful, talented woman.  She was “everybody’s mom”.  Everyone that knew her absolutely loved her. There are no words to express the tremendous loss we’ve suffered.  She is one of a kind;  Oh Jody, what could I tell you about her?  The woman with the “Heart of Gold” who saw the good in everyone and always helped those in need.  No matter what anyone said, she had a mind of her own.  Jody was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother and friend to many.  She will always be remembered and truly missed but not forgotten by all those she helped throughout her life and will always have a special place in each heart that knew her.

We love you, miss you and will see you again.
