Scott Thomas Wilkinson
February 5, 1986
March 13, 2015

Scott Thomas Wilkinson, formerly Scott Gilmour, died early Friday morning at his home in Ramona.

Scott, 29, was a loving and devoted husband, son, and brother. He moved from his home state of Virginia to Ramona in August 2008, enjoying the quiet country life along with his four dogs at first, and, more recently, two horses.

Before coming to Ramona, Scott lived in Arlington, Virginia, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts in Communications from Marymount University and worked in Washington, DC, in the public affairs and marketing departments at the National Association of Homebuilders and with The Hospitality and Information Service for Diplomats.

In Ramona, Scott served as the Administrative Assistant of Ramona United Methodist Church from 2009-2011. From 2011-2013, he worked tirelessly to improve the lives of seniors at the Oakdale of La Mesa assisted living and memory care facility, and he subsequently sought to launch his own company to help seniors and loved-ones consider their assisted living options. He was also driven to write, working diligently on a novel for many months before his death.

Scott made a loving, joyful home for his husband, Paul. He is also mourned by his parents, Tom and Jan Gilmour, of Eugene, Oregon; his grandparents, Chet and Betty Kean, of Lafayette, California; his brother, David, of Houston; and his sister, Beth, of Virginia Beach, Virginia.

In Ramona, Scott was a member of the Methodist Church, almost never missing a worship service and being constantly loved by the close-knit church family he joined in 2008, which also mourns his loss.

In his neighborhood, Scott was known for his love of animals, especially his dogs, and then horses. Scott first leased and bravely rode a huge draft horse; then he acquired two beautiful mares, who also miss him terribly, along with his adopted Belgian Shepherd mix, Midnight, who he affectionately called Mr. Bear; Rascal, a smaller mix; and Moose and Max, two fraternal Chihuahuas who Scott brought with him from Arlington to Ramona.

The celebration of Scott'€™s life will be 1 p.m., Saturday, March 28, at Ramona United Methodist Church, 3394 Chapel Lane, in Ramona.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Ramona United Methodist Church or to a program in which Scott's mares will be cared for by FFA students learning horsemanship. For information on the fund, contact cherishkricketfund@gmail.com.
