Steven King, 65, long time resident of Ramona passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on December 23, 2017.  He was born on Christmas Day of 1951 at the San Diego Naval Hospital and grew up in National City.  He graduated from Sweetwater High School and got his Associate of Science Degree from San Diego City College.
Steven worked at Solar Turbines for 36 years, beginning as a welder for the first 20 years and during the last 16 years was an Instrumentation Tech.  During his time with Solar Turbines he traveled for work to Alaska, Mexico, Germany and many places in the U.S. to troubleshoot.  He enjoyed hiking with the Hiking Club at Solar Turbines and began a hike of the Pacific Crest Trail.  Later he hiked the three highest peaks in Southern California.  He and his wife Barbara hiked to the peak of Mt. Whitney.  He got into riding his bike and rode all over Ramona, doing regular ten mile rides.  Steven also enjoyed woodworking and spending lots of time with his grandchildren.
Steven met his beloved wife Barbara in 1978 and they were married in 1979.  They had five children, their second child passed as an infant.  Steven is survived by his four children, Chad (Jaime) King of Ramona, Kelly King of Clifton, CO,, David (Amanda) King of Ramona and Amy King of Ramona.  He has four grandchildren, Joshua, Kynzie, Jason and Logan.  He also leaves behind his siblings, Ralph (Vickie) King of Boise, ID, Paul King of El Cajon, Denise (James) Chavez of LaMesa, 22 nieces and nephews, and many beloved friends.
A Funeral Mass will be held at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at 10am.  The Rosary will be recited prior to Mass.  He will be interred at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery in San Diego on Thursday, January 11th at 10am in a private burial.
