Charles Anthony Taylor, a longtime resident of Ramona, CA, went home to be with God on September 10, 2018, after a brave struggle with heart disease.  Charles was born to Annie Hall Taylor and Dempsey Taylor in Ballinger, Texas on July 11, 1958.  He was the second of six children.  His family relocated to Lubbock, Texas during Charles' primary years where he grew up and attended Lubbock Christian College (LCC).  While attending LCC Charles met and married Janita Tabor, his wife of 38 years.  During these 38 years, Charles and Janita had four children and made homes in Lubbock, TX, Pampa, TX, Odessa TX, Tucson AZ, San Diego, CA and Ramona, CA.
Charles was a devoted Christian, attending classes and worship, leading a home fellowship group and participating in numerous activities with his church family.
Charles' career was very diverse and included restaurant management, retail management, pre-school teaching, high school football and baseball coaching and baseball umpiring.  He was an active member of the San Diego County Baseball Umpires Association for many years.  He was dedicated to working with children and volunteered many years with North City Youth Baseball, Stanley Park Rec Basketball and Ramona Boys and Girls Club Basketball.  During his later years, he was a dedicated volunteer at the Ramona Senior Center.
Charles is missed and survived by his wife, Janita; three children, Tabitha, Charles Jr. and Katrina; five grandchildren, Rashawn, Heavenn, Narissa, EC3 and Chase; his parents, Dempsey and Annie; two brothers, Stevie and Dempsey Jr.; sister, Kathy, a large extended family, a multitude of friends and his extensive Christian family.  He was predeceased by his son, Jason, brother Kenneth and sister Stephanie.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Wednesday, September 19, 2018, at 11:00am at the Canyon View Church of Christ in San Diego.
