Leslie Charlotte Hamblin

Leslie Charlotte Hamblin of Ramona, California, passed away suddenly on September 11th, 2021 at the age of 69 with her two daughters by her side.

Leslie was born in Battle Creek, Michigan, to Richard and Patricia West on the 2nd of January, 1952. She graduated from Therrell High School in Atlanta, Georgia in 1970 where she was a proud member of the Therrell High Steppers Drill Team. After graduation she made her way to San Diego where she could enjoy the desert and beautiful weather.

Leslie graduated from Cabrillo School of Nursing with honors in 1985 and proudly worked as a medical assistant in Alpine for many years. She always found great pleasure in helping patients and cared for each of them as her own family. After retiring to focus on her daughters, patients often reached out to Leslie as they knew she was always happy to support any way she could.

Leslie attended Spirit of Joy Lutheran Church for many years and looked forward to working with the church youth during vacation bible school and kids club. Watching the youth grow and appreciate her creativity only amplified her joy in crafting. She thoroughly enjoyed being surrounded by, or shopping for, craft supplies to bring her ideas to life.

Leslie worked as Campus Supervisor for a few years at Mt. Woodson Elementary in Ramona. She loved being around the kids on the playground and often could be found participating with games and play. Many kids found her to be a source of comfort and she flourished in the life and youth they provided her. 

Many will remember Leslie’s unique, fun-loving personality. She would frequently be seen wearing troll earrings, fun headbands, feather boas and a beautifully contagious smile. Her love for her family, especially her grandkids, will live on in memories for those that had the opportunity to know her. 

Leslie is predeceased by her parents, Richard and Patricia West. She is survived by her former spouse, David Hamblin, and their two daughters Rebecca Moore and Aimee Ahlgren of Ramona, her two sisters, Candace Aube of Temecula and Pamela James of Tennessee, and her eight beautiful grandchildren, Kylee, Kolten, Kaylin, Jackson, Kennedy, Ryan, Reese and Paige.

A celebration of life was held at Cordiano Winery on the 13th of October, 2021.
