Pauline Freeman Obituary

Pauline Louise Freeman, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away in San Diego on November 29, 2025. Born in Corona, California on February 6, 1929 to William and Bessie White, Pauline spent her early years in Corona. At sixteen years of age she met her husband-to-be, Robert (Bob) Freeman, at a high school dance. Pauline and Bob started dating a few months later - he knew he had to meet her when he saw her at the dance decked out in a bright red dress!!

They married in the summer of 1949 and had six children over the next 14 years. They lived in Davis, California while Bob was in veterinary school and from there moved to Phoenix, Arizona and then to Murrieta, California. In 1968 they moved to Ramona and there Pauline met some of her best friends who would become lifelong companions. She also joined  the First Congregational Church of Ramona and would continue to worship there and cherish those connections for the rest of her life. Though the Freemans spent several years in Bonita while their youngest three sons were in high school, Pauline and Bob returned to Ramona in 1990. She had always loved Ramona and was thrilled to be back home.

Over the course of her life, Pauline was an early childhood educator, ran an early childhood development center, became an elementary and  middle school teacher, and even went back to school and became a nurse, working at Sharp Memorial in Rehab. She never missed attending her sons' football, baseball and basketball games and daughter's dance performances. She was always adventurous, loved learning and experiencing new things and as a result loved traveling, watercolor painting, cooking, sewing, making quilts, and listening and singing to music. Always active and loving the outdoors, she had many different dogs with whom she enjoyed her daily walks in the hills of Ramona. As an active member of the Congregational Church, she sang in the choir over the years, served as a Deaconess and also participated in the Hand Bell Choir.

Pauline lived her entire life with love as her guiding light. She loved God, her family, and friends - she touched everyone around her with creativity, compassion, and joy. She loved her children and their partners, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren with a fierce and enduring love and nothing brought her more happiness than everyone gathered together celebrating a joyful occasion. Pauline leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue to flourish and grow - she will be forever in our hearts.

Pauline is survived by her daughters - Debra Kent and Sheryl (Don) Jacobsen, both of North Vancouver Canada; sons - Bill (Cindy) Freeman of Ramona, Jim (Jing) Freeman of San Diego, Dave (Julie) Freeman of Hemet, and Jon (Carolyn) Freeman of Spring Valley; grandchildren - Michael, Daniel, Erik, Cara, Brian (Julie), Michelle (Tim), Brandon (Nicole), Mercy, York, Alexandra (Alberto), Chloë (Ishmael), Taren; and great-grandchildren - Bradley Faith, Kaylee, Clara, Trevor, Ella, Adalyn, Caleb, Olivia and Adrián.

A Celebration of Life is scheduled for 1pm, Saturday January 24th, 2026 at the First Congregational Church of Ramona (404 8th Street). Reception to follow in the Fellowship Hall.
