Stephen Peter Donnellan passed away on February 19, 2021 surrounded by family. He was 65 years old.
Steve was born in San Diego, the son of Edward and Inez Donnellan. He was raised in Smithtown, New York. Steve joined the United States Air Force in 1975 and served for four years. Afterwards he spent a brief time as a carpenter working for his brother-in-law and then his career path led him into the computer industry where he worked as a field engineer for 30 years ending his career with IBM.
Steve met his wife Teri in 1983 and they became soulmates immediately. They married in June of 1984 in Pasadena, California. They raised two beautiful children, Stephanie and Stephen and settled in Ramona, California in 1990. Stephanie was a “daddy’s girl” in every sense of the word and he never missed one of her dance performances and recitals. Steve was at every sporting event for his son Stephen, not only as a spectator on the sidelines but also passionately coaching. Steve was a proud family man, a devoted husband, an extraordinary father, brother, uncle, son-in-law and friend. He had a gift for striking up a conversation with everyone.
Steve spent many years serving his local community where he was recognized for his commitment to Ramona Pony Baseball. He stepped up to the plate in maintaining the fields, ensuring safety for the kids and manicuring the “field of dreams” for our youth. Steve also served on the Ramona Baseball Board of Directors. He coached his son Stephen from T-Ball through Pony and loved every single moment of watching his son mature both on and off the field. Steve was an avid sports fan and collector of sports memorabilia. His favorite teams were the San Diego Padres and the San Diego Chargers.
Steve is survived by his loving wife, Teri of 36 years, his children Stephanie and Stephen, sisters, Patricia Van Natta and Maureen Carasiti. He joins his parents, Edward and Inez Donnellan, his sister Marianne Nielsen and brother Eddie in heaven.
A service in Steve’s honor will be held on April 3rd at 11:00 a.m. at the Ramona Baseball Fields.
