Arlona Diggins, of Ramona, passed away on Monday, January 24, 2011 from lung cancer. Born fifth of nine children to Ed and Mary Underwood in Morrilton, Arkansas she moved to California and married Pearl Harbor survivor, Bob Diggins. Arlona started her career at General Dynamics after her husband came home from WWII a disabled veteran. She was a technician on Convairs first Computer and college classes took her to the Atlas Missile then she transferred to Astronautic Space Division and onto Configuration Management in 1982. Arlona retired in 1990 after 37 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years. She is survived by her sister, Clarisa Holt, two daughters, Brenda and Shurli; five grandchildren, Kevin, Karen, Kathy, Cindy and Gina; fourteen great grandchildren; Connie, Sarah, Joshua, Brandon, Thomas, Berkley, Maya, Tanner, Olivia, Charli, Elizabeth, Isaiah, Jacquelin and Racquel; one great, great grandchild, Lexis and many nephews and nieces.
Those who knew this gracious lady will miss her wisdom and humor.
Memorial services will be held at 3:00 pm on Friday, February 11, 2011 at Grace Community Church, 1234 Barger Pl., Ramona, CA 92065. She will be placed next to her beloved husband at Ft. Rosecrans National Cemetery.
