It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Brett Jason Lawrence, on June 3rd, 2025, in San Diego, CA at the age of 65. Brett was born on March 21, 1960, in the state of Ohio to now deceased parents Mary Ruina Perrine and Eugene Lawrence. Brett was the youngest of four siblings and preceded by his brothers, Joseph (Joe) Cleveland Staples and Manley Maurice Lawrence. He leaves behind his sister Nova Ellen Staples who resides in Vancouver, Canada.
Brett was a loving kind soul who had a great sense of humor and was an accomplished song writer and musician. His musical beginnings started when his brother Joe taught him how to play base guitar when he was just 15, becoming a full-time member of Joe's bands, The Act and Midnight City. Brett and Joe were natural harmony singers together with memorable tunes from The Beatles to Simon & Garfunkel tribute "The Boxer". In Brett's earlier years in San Diego, his solo ventures lead him to sing and play base locally with the group Cold Fire and Slick Surface before meeting up with the other members of the original band 6ONE9 playing both locally and internationally.
The last decade Brett's journey was finding community and gaining a new perspective while enduring some lifetime health issues. Brett will be sadly missed by many endearing friends and extended family in the US and Canada. Condolences go out to all.
