Dennis Meldrum MacPetrie was born August 2, 1942, to George and Dorothy MacPetrie in
Detroit, Michigan. He had two younger brothers, Doug MacPetrie and Neil MacPetrie. He is
preceded in death by his wife Christine MacPetrie and is survived by Mark MacPetrie and
Matt (Melanie) MacPetrie along with 8 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
His career was in mechanical engineering, and he was a member of the Society of
Manufacturing Engineers (SME), as well as a graduate of Lawrence Technological University in
Michigan. During his free time, he loved flying and sailing. Flying took place early in his life
when he owned and operated 2 Cessna airplanes. Sailing was a hobby that started in the
lakes of Michigan and moved to San Diego’s Mission Bay when he came to California in the
late 70’s.
His true passion though, and the highlight of his life, was teaching young children the gospel
of Jesus Christ through Sunday School and AWANA in which he was a teacher/ leader for 50
years. His love for his family, his unwavering generosity, and his love for teaching children is
what he will be remembered most for.
Bonham Bros. & Stewart Mortuary and Cremation Service assisted the family.
