Enrique Flores Obituary

It is with great sorrow that the family of Rick (Enrique) Flores announce his passing on January 22, 2021 as a result of a lengthy illness. He leaves his wife, Regina, daughter, Christina, and son, Ricky.  He also is survived by his siblings Monica Lehman, William Flores, Patricia Magallanes, Vivian Schroeder, Mayda Downs, Paul Flores, and Peter Flores.

Rick was born on December 4, 1958 to Enrique and Olga Flores Garcia in Gary, Indiana, where he spent the first 14 years of his life. The family moved to El Cajon, California in 1973.  Rick graduated from Granite Hills High School in 1976 participating in swimming and water polo as his sports of choice.  He excelled in swimming the 100 meter medley competition. After high school Rick attended Grossmont College taking classes in business.  He began his career in the automotive industry by washing cars for local dealerships while still in high school, eventually working his way up to General Manager for City Chevrolet / Volkswagen dealership. He later became a consultant for many dealerships across the country, advising them on improving sales strategies and marketing techniques, among other things.

He married the love of his life, Regina O'Conner, on May 6, 1989 and began their family in Poway before moving to Ramona to raise their two children.  Rick had been diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis in 2018 which caused him to require a lung transplant at UCLA Medical Center.  Rick fought valiantly to maintain his health but was unable to defeat the progression of the disease.  Rick passed away at home into the arms of his Lord Jesus Christ surrounded by his wife, children, brothers and sisters, and nieces and nephews, just like he wanted. Rick will be remembered for his friendly demeanor, quick wit, and superior intelligence.  He lived a life full of love in his 62 years and leaves many friends who will remember his humor, his charisma, and his love of life.

We will all deeply miss him.
