Filippo DiGiovanni born in Italy Oct. 14, 1923. Died on June 24, 2011. Survived by his wife Silvia DiGiovanni. They both came from the same island of Ponza in Italy. They married 62 years ago. He left behind 7 children: Michele DiGiovanni, Lucia Contreras, Anniello DiGiovanni, Marcello DiGiovanni, Vincenzo DiGiovanni, Civita Talento, and Silverio DIGiovanni. He has 26 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren that he absolutely adored. He served in the Italian Military in world war II. He migrated to Brooklyn, New York in 1966 with his wife and 5 children. He was blessed with 2 more children here in America. Filippo DiGiovanni was such a devoted, hard-working man. His family meant everything to him. His great passion was his garden. He took such great pride in his homemade wine. He was devoted to his parish, Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church and so dedicated to his faith. He was an extraordinary man who will be missed by all who knew him.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 28, 2011 from 5-8p with the recitation of the rosary at 7pm. Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at 10am, Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Ramona. Burial will take place, following Mass, at Nuevo Memory Gardens, Ramona.
