Grant E. Raybould, 92 passed away on February 14, 2010. Grant came to Ramona in the 1930's with his parents and sibling.
He was a true patriot serving in the Air Force during WWII. He spent his lifetime as a craftsman in all aspects of building, both commercial and residential, which includes the still-used original Ramona Elementary schools. At the age of 19, he built his first home in Ramona out of homemade adobe blocks and later raised a family of five there. He was also an avid horseman who rode and broke horses for a living as a young man. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening and artistic man-made projects.
Grant leaves behind his wife of thirty years, Flora Raybould. He also leaves five children, Anita Kay, grant Raybould Jr., Bob Raybould, Debbie Williams and Sandy Carle; as well as eleven grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
Grant was a member of the LDS Church and most recently active at the Julian branch.
Services will be held on Saturday, February 20, 2010 at 11:00am at the LDS Church, 527 9th ST., Ramona. Interment with military honors immediately follow at Nuevo Memory Gardens.
