Gunter Anstaett of Ramona passed away peacefully on August 5, 2010 after having battled colon cancer for 2 years.
Gunter was born in Germany in 1933. He moved to Canada and later to the United States during the 1950's, ultimately serving in the U.S. Army during that time. After his service, he worked as a machinist and eventually as part owner of a machine shop.
In 1959, Gunter married Barbara Ray and they had two sons, Richard and Randy. Barbara and Gunter were married for 46 years until Barbara's death in 2005.
Gunter lived a very active life, even in his later years. He zip lined in Mexico at age 75 and went white water rafting in Alaska at age 72. He had a zest for life and a generosity of spirit that we can all carry with us.
Survivors include his sister, Lisa Leginus, sons Richard and Randy Anstaett, two grandchildren, and many friends and extended family.
Services to be held on Saturday, August 14 at Bonham Bros & Stewart Mortuary at 321 12th Street in Ramona at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Elizabeth Hospice.
