Harold Brewer Obituary

Murrieta – Harold Raymon Brewer passed peacefully on Tuesday, April 28, 2026. He was 92.
Mr. Brewer was born in 1934 to William James Brewer and Ivah Edith Cody in Forget, Saskatchewan, Canada. He was the eighth of ten children. As a farmer’s son, Hal worked on the family farm alongside his six brothers and three sisters. He attended a one-room schoolhouse with his siblings through the eighth grade.
For high school, he moved to the United States. Hal lived with his sister Florence in Michigan for two years and then with his eldest sister, Hazel, in Alhambra, California. Following graduation, he joined the United States Army and served from 1953 to 1955, including service in Korea. He married Dianne Ford in February 1961 after rekindling their friendship from their time at Alhambra High School. They shared 61 years of marriage until Dianne’s passing.
After graduating from California State University, Los Angeles, Hal began a career in law enforcement with the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control in January 1962, transferring to the San Diego District Office in 1965. He retired in 1985 as a Supervising Special Investigator. Following his retirement, he founded an alcoholic beverage licensing consulting practice that continues to this day.
In his later years, Hal was a founding member of the San Diego Sheriff’s Volunteer Mounted Unit and was active in the Ramona United Methodist Church. He enjoyed woodworking, hiking, and spending time with his family. Though he traveled the world, he was always happiest at home with those he loved most.
He is survived by his son Steven (Audra) Brewer and their daughters, Brianna (Conner) Bruchman and her daughter Iliza, and Shannon (Alec) Bergman and their children, Raelynn and Atlas; and by his son Michael and his children, Mikayla, Zachary, and Halley; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Harold was preceded in death by his wife Dianne, his parents, his brothers William, Daniel, George, Kenneth, Earl, and Charley, and his sisters Hazel Horowitz, Florence Parker, and Merle Leister.
Harold will be laid to rest with Dianne on May 15, 2026, at Miramar National Cemetery in San Diego.
