June 8, 1918 – March 23, 2011

Irma Engsberg passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 23, 2011. She was born in Maylands Australia on June 8, 1918 to Sarah and Fitch Skeels. She served in the Australian Royal Air Force from 1942 - 1945, as a drill instructor. She married Glen Engsberg in Perth Australia on March 2, 1944, while he was serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Irma left Australia for the United States, sailing on the 1st ship after the war ended. She arrived in San Francisco in September of 1945. She would not return to her homeland for 30 years.

Beauty, intelligence, kindness, strength, joy, a quick wit and a generous spirit all describe Irma's qualities. Her passions in life were gardening, sewing, volunteering, helping others and most importantly the love for her family.

Irma was predeceased by her beloved Glen and their son Terry. She is survived by her daughters Deborah Gearheart and Kay Hill as well as her grandchildren Renee Jensen, Scott Hill, Joshua Engsberg, Dylan Gearheart and Kelly Gearheart

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Eric, Tessie & Jude at Love & Care Residential in San Marcos for their excellent care and compassion they gave to our mother.

Irma was laid to rest with her husband Glen at Nuevo Memory Gardens in Ramona on Friday, March 25, 2011.
