Born July 17, 1923 in Milwaukee, WI Leonard joined the Navy in July 1941 and served in Communication and Navigation. He retired from the US Navy in 1961 as Chief Petty Officer. He was a veteran of World War II and Korea. He was employed 20 years as a clerk in the US Postal Service, retiring in 1985.
Leonard married Freda Dunn. They had 5 children, 9 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. He married Sonya Franklin and had 4 step-children, 16 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
Leonard resided in both Julian, CA and Poway, CA. He was a member Veterans of Foreign Wars and Knights of Columbus.
A funeral service will be held on December 28, 2010 at Saint Gabriel's Catholic Church, Poway, CA. Burial will be at Dearborn Memorial Park in Poway.
