Mark J. Thomas

     Mark Thomas, 73, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family and loved ones July 15, 2025, just six days shy of his 52nd wedding anniversary. His life was filled with adventure, fun, family and Christ. Mark was preceded in death by his father Paul Thomas, mother BettyJo Thomas (McDougal), brother Peter Thomas and sister Jenny Thomas.
     Mark devoted his career to working as a youth counselor for troubled kids and youth in foster care. Through his work, he became a consistent presence and guiding light for countless young people navigating difficult circumstances. His ability to connect with youth and offer support and mentorship left a lasting impact on many lives.
     A true “guys guy” Mark had a gift for fixing just about anything, whether it's a broken engine or someone's broken spirit. He was always ready to roll up his sleeves and get things done, always ready to help or share his knowledge. His passion for classic cars, rat rods and car shows reflected his attention to detail and love of craftsmanship.
     Mark also found joy in coaching youth sports such as soccer and softball, often taking his teams to championships. Staying active was a big part of his life. Push up contests with his kids or shooting hoops, hiking or working out in the dojo always striving to do better physically and mentally. Faith played a huge role in Mark's life. Making a point to invite everyone to church on Sundays. His spiritual commitment was not only personal but something he actively shared with those around him..
     Above all else Mark cherished his role as a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Hosting family gatherings were especially meaningful to him times where laughter filled the air and connections were deepened. He took pride in being present for his loved ones creating memories that will be treasured for generations.
     Mark is survived by his wife Cathleen Thomas, children Amber Wilfong, Cole Thomas, Dalton Thomas, grand kids Joseph, Lilly, Penelope, and Holden. Mark also had many nieces and nephews and family meant a lot to him. A private memorial will be held at a later time.
