Mary Elizabeth Tykeson, 90, passed away peacefully at her home in Ramona on January 16, 2012. She was born in Lebanon, Pennsylvania. She served in Vietnam as a volunteer nurse during the war years. She also served in the US Air Force during World War II. After her service, she was a long-time volunteer at the Eisenhower Medical Center in Palm Desert. When she moved to Ramona she served as a member of the Volunteer Sheriff’s Patrol.
Mary was predeceased by both of her daughters, and is survived by her son Emory Ball of Sutherland, Oregon. She also leaves behind 9 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren as well as her beloved long time companion, Jeno Trocsany of Hungary.
The funeral service will be held at 11am on Monday, January 23, 2012 at First Congregational Church in Ramona. Following the funeral service, Mary will be laid to rest with military honors at 2pm at Ft. Rosecrans National Cemetery in San Diego. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Mary’s memory to Project Concern International in San Diego.
