Michael Craig Heil, known as Mike, aged 61, died on
Thursday, September 6th, 2023 in Escondido, California
from natural causes. He was born on March 28th, 1962 as
Michael Jenkins to Vera Lynnette Louise Johnson and Ron Jenkins
in Southern California. In 1966, Mike and his younger
brother were adopted by his mothers new husband, Gary
Brian Heil, thus taking the last name Heil.
Some of Mike’s favorite memories were summer vacations traveling up the California Coast
visiting the Redwoods, Klamath River and Pismo Beach. There he would wake up before sunrise
and with his two younger brothers and adoptive father would fish for cod and salmon for hours.
From a young age he could often be found outdoors enjoying bicycling, skateboarding, camping,
barbecuing and running track in high school. After high school, Mike went to work in the
masonry field and construction plumbing in San Diego County. Soon after, he would get married
and have two sons.
He is preceded in death by his father, mother, and adoptive father. He is survived by his two sons,
multiple grandchildren, and two brothers. He also leaves behind his longtime partner and her
family.
Mike had an infectious smile and through the difficulties in his life he had the ability to carry a
positive tune. It was his love for those around him that gave him the strength to overcome
adversities.
There will be no memorial service at this time, instead Mike’s wishes were to remain close to the
Pacific Ocean and he would take comfort in whenever you look into the waves in the horizon and
feel the sea salted air to think of a kind memory of him and use that moment as reminder to
cherish each and every moment you have to share with your loved ones.
