Philip Ellis Young, 66, of Julian, passed away on December 14, 2011. He was born in The Bronx, New York, to Ruth and Paul Young on May 1, 1945.

He graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from Wheaton College and worked for many years as a graphic designer and was a life-long artist. He served at the Hillside Community Church in Julian as an Elder and leant his voice to the choir. Philip proudly served his country as a 1st Lieutenant in the US Army during the Vietnam War.

Philip was an inspiring and supportive husband, father and friend. His sense of humor and love for life affected everyone who knew him. He leaves behind his beloved wife Nancy and their children, Cody, Jesse, Zachary, Hillary and Amanda, all of San Diego. He is also survived by his brothers, James Young of Illinois, and Peter Young of Rhode Island.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Philip's memory to the Julian Arts Guild. Philip was laid to rest at the Julian Haven of Rest Cemetery on Wednesday, December 21st in a private family ceremony. A Celebration of Life will be held in Philip’s memory on Saturday, January 14th at 11am in the Multi-purpose room at the Julian High School.
