Wayne was born in Harrisville, West Virginia, on January 11, 1949, to Wayne Nelson Hissem, Sr. and Evelyn Lorraine Phillips Hissem. He was a US Navy veteran and served 24 years, retiring as a Chief Gunner's Mate. After military retirement, Wayne worked for 17 years as an inspector for the San Diego Country Estates Association.
In addition to his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by two brothers, Gary B. Hissem and William H. Hissem, and his son, Ryan Hissem. Survivors include his wife, Jacquelynn Joy Hissem of Ramona; his son, Scott Wayne Hissem of Sacramento; his brother, James D. Hissem of Salem, WV; two sisters, Becky L. Carder of Cairo, WV, and Pamela S. Forshey of Waverly, WV; and several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, January 22, 2012, at San Vicente Inn, Ramona, CA, at 3:00 p.m., with a reception to follow. The Rev. Richard Rabehl will officiate. Wayne's remains will be returned to West Virginia for a memorial service and scattering of his ashes.
